The Sunstone 18 In combo upper wall - Right swing door cabinet provides the perfect over-head storage option, most often used above sinks or ice chest in the serving zone. The cabinet is 18 In. width by 21 In. tall and 14 In. depth including front door panel, this cabinet is completely open, allowing for larger stored items to be stored securely away. All Sunstone wall cabinets are easily installed with simple horizontal wall support slates which interlock into each other keeping a perfect horizontal line every time. The cabinet comes completely setup, only fasten the door handle, and snap on the crown molding.(if You placing this upper wall component cabinet next to a full height wall cabinet, also place the SWC13ECR attached to lower end of full height cabinet side).

(I understand from the manual that the cut out is is 22", and that I need to leave at least 4" behind the back of the grill and the wall, but what I don't understand is how far the back of the grill extends behind the cut out. Because I don't know how far the back of the grill extends behind the cut out, I can't calculate the counter depth I need to leave 4" between the back of the grill and the wall.)

Hi - Measuring from the back of the grills FireBox it is 3-5/8" to the back edge of grill, and from the cut-out line its between 2-3 inches. The hood extends an additional 3" when Open, so is why you need a minimum 4" clearance. All this is illustrated on the grills Specification Sheet, you can download in the section box Downloads.
