In addition, this door is great for accessing the Bottom Vent of a Ceramic Grill and features a Turn-Latch which can be optionally replaced for a Locking Latch keeping internal components safe. The door is specially designed, so it can be turned 180 degrees allowing it to be opened either Left or Right Swing.

I bought this to use as s a pass door through my garage wall for my electric car charging cable. I had a sheet metal shop add a keyhole and keyhole swivel door so the door could close and I could keep the cable in place. The sheet metal shop labor cost more than the entire door. I then drilled a hole through the locking dog and inserted a removable pin so it is lockable. It was an easy install in a stucco wall as the return on the frame was deep enough to frame the opening and mount to wood I added to shore up the installation. the finished install works great. I get a lot of comments from my neighbors about the setup. I live at the beach so I got a stainless steel model and then painted it to match the surrounding wall. Excellent quality and excellent price.

This a great little door. And if it had been a 12” door it would be rated a five. It’s described as being a 12” door, but that’s not true. The frame is 12” and the door is 9”. When describing a door the measurement should be of the object you’re describing (e.g. door), not the door plus frame (unless that is clearly explained).

(I understand from the manual that the cut out is is 22", and that I need to leave at least 4" behind the back of the grill and the wall, but what I don't understand is how far the back of the grill extends behind the cut out. Because I don't know how far the back of the grill extends behind the cut out, I can't calculate the counter depth I need to leave 4" between the back of the grill and the wall.)

Hi - Measuring from the back of the grills FireBox it is 3-5/8" to the back edge of grill, and from the cut-out line its between 2-3 inches. The hood extends an additional 3" when Open, so is why you need a minimum 4" clearance. All this is illustrated on the grills Specification Sheet, you can download in the section box Downloads.
