What is the minimum counter depth to install Ruby 4 Burner Pro-Sear 36″ with a wall behind the grill?
(I understand from the manual that the cut out is is 22", and that I need to leave at least 4" behind the back of the grill and the wall, but what I don't understand is how far the back of the grill extends behind the cut out. Because I don't know how far the back of the grill extends behind the cut out, I can't calculate the counter depth I need to leave 4" between the back of the grill and the wall.)

Hi - Measuring from the back of the grills FireBox it is 3-5/8" to the back edge of grill, and from the cut-out line its between 2-3 inches. The hood extends an additional 3" when Open, so is why you need a minimum 4" clearance. All this is illustrated on the grills Specification Sheet, you can download in the section box Downloads. Used this door on the side of a BBQ island that I built. Needed the vented model because spare propane tank is stored in that compartment. Door is heavy gauge stainless steel with a nice thick mounting flange. Good product at reasonable price.

I installed this door on my outdoor kitchen about a year ago and it still looks like new! No signs of rust. The construction and welds are very good. Also, I haven't got around to building the pergola above the grill yet so it got rained on all winter. Still no rust.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the door! We built an outdoor kitchen and applied a stucco finish to the outside. The doors were very easy to install and there was issue with them laying flat against the stucco finish.

Perfect. The quality of the door is excellent.I was just as surprised as another reviewer of the heaviness/solidness of the door.I installed this door myself. I built the bbq out of pressure treated lumber and skinned the frame in 1/2" hardiboard. The flange to install allows for a smooth transition for your face material tile, wood or stucco. My bbq will have uneven slate stacked faced stones that are not meant to run under the flange. I left the flange stick out past the hardiboard by 3/8". I installed the doors prior to stone install. So the stone would butt right up the flange. But if you are doing 3/8" tile or stucco, I would recommend making your opening running your face material up to the opening and finally putting the door in for a overlay transition.There are two magnets to catch the door and keep it closed. One magnet on top and one on the bottom of the handle. This makes for a firm smooth operation.Very happy with the price and quality.
